While their uncuddly name won't exactly win over many members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Australian rock band Sick Puppies introduced themselves to U.S. listeners with a multitude of hugs, turning the first clips of their friend Juan Mann — famous for initiating the Free Hugs Campaign — into a music video for their song "All the Same." The video has received more than 67.2 million hits on YouTube. With their angst-laden, post-grunge sound finding an audience with their sophomore album "Dressed Up as Life," the Aussie trio is prepping for the release of its full-length "Tri-Polar," riding the success of its single "Maybe." Sick Puppies can be seen and heard with a number of other bands playing Saturday, April 16, during the 102.1 the X Chili Cook-Off at the Richmond International Raceway. The event takes place from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $25. 228-7500.
