Richmond's pop-punk sons Smoke or Fire come to Richmond as part of a 50-state tour with Against Me!, The Epoxies and The Soviettes, Nov. 26, 6-10 p.m. For the young and slightly angry this holiday season, these sounds smash together just enough to allow melody to survive and punk to keep on changing into whatever it's trying to be. $10. 643-2816.

It doesn't seem like Christmas should rock this much, or have as much light and big hair as Poison gone caroling. And yet when TSO tours, the season really seems to get started. Approaching the classics "O Come All Ye Faithful," for example with the same sleigh-jolting force as its own songs, like "The Lost Christmas Eve," the orchestra makes of the holidays a rock opera. No, but a good one. The season begins Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $24-$41.
