Seeing Is Believing

Robert Bradley's path to success is unlikely, but it shouldn't be a surprise considering his experience as a songwriter. He's a seasoned performer who's played in churches and on streets for years, released two singles on a small label back in the day and cut demos at the fabled Motown studio with the Funk Brothers -- before landing a regular gig outside a busy street market. Now he tours with big boys like the Dave Matthews Band and Allman Brothers Band, and one of his songs ended up in a Gatorade commercial. I bet the folks at the Eastern Market in Detroit, where Bradley was discovered by a local musician, didn't see this coming. Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise comes to the Canal Club Friday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. $8-$10. 643-2582.
