Raised in rural Texas, singer and songwriter Ryan Bingham developed an uncanny knack for composing hardscrabble Americana-country tunes in between his days working on ranches and rodeo competitions. Issuing a number of self-released albums, Bingham's whiskey-soaked vocals caught the attention of Lost Highway Records. Joining forces with legendary music veteran and producer T-Bone Burnett, Bingham achieved breakthrough status by contributing music to the 2009 film "Crazy Heart," winning a Golden Globe and Academy Award for his original song, "The Weary King." Following the success with last year's album, "Junky Star," also produced by Burnett, Bingham and his band the Dead Horses are scheduled to perform at the National on Wednesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. $15-$20.
