The RVA Heirloom and Organic Meals for Everyone project, known as HOME, is an educational nursery. Its goal is to promote food independence by providing the community with a source of organic seedlings for home gardens. The group has a greenhouse in the Uptown Community Garden, but supplies don’t come cheap. So it’s throwing a benefit show. The lineup of local bands includes First Creature, featuring members from Fire Bison, Bad Magic, Double Rainbow, Pedals on Our Pirate Ships and White Laces. Proceeds go toward purchasing seeds, cell packs, soil, compost and other garden necessities. The RVA HOME project benefit show takes place at Strange Matter on Friday, Feb. 22, at 9:30 p.m. $5-$10. rvahomeproject.blogspot.com.
