Robin Rogers at Shenanigans

What better way to celebrate a nomination for Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist of the Year for the 30th annual Blues Music Awards than to spend the night at Shenanigans with blues singer Robin Rogers. Used to performing in small restaurants and venues, having spent her early years as a runaway teen, sleeping in parks and performing in coffee houses for food and tips, it's not a stretch to understand the sentimentality she has for more intimate places, despite the fact her voice is perhaps suited for places much bigger. She performs at Shenanigans on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 8:30 p.m. 264-5010. — Alexander Chang
