Richmond Shakespeare's “Henry V.”

Long before modern movie executives started using words and phrases such as “sequels,” “prequels” and “marketable franchise,” ol' Bill Shakespeare had established the concept of a tetralogy with his plays chronicling the rise of the English House of Lancaster. It starts with “Richard II” and continues with “Henry IV: Part I” and “Henry IV: Part II.” But it's the final installment, “Henry V,” that's considered the bard's greatest history play. Depicting the English king as he leads his tired and outnumbered ranks against the French in the Battle of Agincourt, Richmond Shakespeare kicks off its summer series with this work of noble speeches and heroic battles Thursday, June 11, at 8 p.m. at Agecroft Hall.
