Based in Portland, Ore., Red Fang captures the spirit of loud and fast heavy rock with its stoner-influenced jams. The group deliberately avoids any progressive leanings, focusing intensely on guitar riffs. After its 2009 debut caught some attention, Red Fang opened for bands such as Megadeth, Godsmack and Disturbed at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and traveled Europe with Mastodon and Black Tusk. The band’s latest, “Murder the Mountains,” was released last year and was hailed by critics as a can’t-miss album. In February, Red Fang will play Australia’s Soundwave Festival. Catch it here first when Red Fang performs at Kingdom with Lord Dying and Black Tusk on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. $12. kingdomrva.com.
