Proud Kelly

R. Kelly may have compared himself with Marvin Gaye and Osama Bin Laden in recent interviews, but his true double is considerably less legendary and not as notorious -- Ike Turner. Both were twisted geniuses of popular music whose tremendous gifts were persistently threatened by their deeply flawed characters. Turner never escaped the damning image crafted in the movie version of his wife's life story, while Kelly continues to elude prosecution and public humiliation despite an indecent home video. Be careful, Robert. You might beat the court case, but Laurence Fishburne is still out there. The pied piper of R&B leads the Double Up tour (with Keyshia Cole and J. Holiday) to the Richmond Coliseum Friday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45-$65. Call 262-8100 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
