Virginia Pride

Showing pride in how you were born seems kind of silly, doesn’t it? But we live in Virginia. So taking a vocal and public stand on something as mundane as your DNA-determined sexuality needs to be done. Pride Fest 2014, taking place Saturday, Sept. 26, on Brown’s Island, is a family-friendly celebration of LGBT communities throughout the commonwealth, with activities and performances sure to bring pleasure to all sexualities. One day, we’ll be laughing about these last vestiges of homophobia. Until then, you can help hasten its demise by simply enjoying yourself at this always-entertaining, glad-to-be-gay event. The festivities run from 12:30-7 p.m. Free. vapride.org.
