Pissed Jeans, Hex Machine, Slugz, Daggering and DJ Marty Violence at Strange Matter

Friday, April 11. 9 p.m.

Ah yes, Pissed Jeans. A bad reality, but a genius band name. It’s the type of name that weeds people out so you don’t have to. And true to its divisive moniker, the Allentown, Penn., band’s music is gloriously obstinate. It’s loud, mean and full of piss and vinegar, recalling the cantankerous rock concoctions released by Jesus Lizard, Killdozer and Shellac on Touch and Go Records in the early 1990s. While the group’s been successful in capturing its gnarled sound through the course of four full-length albums and three EPs since 2004, Pissed Jeans is best experienced live. It brings its visceral offerings to Strange Matter on Friday, April 11, with Richmond ill-will pushers Hex Machine, Slugz, Daggering and DJ Marty Violence. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $12. strangematterrva.com.
