Patrick Sweany at Shenanigans

Deep in the deep blues vein of the Black Keys, Patrick Sweany's late-afternoon guitar and front-porch voice — it howls! It wails! It pleads! — come up from an old blues place and sound like all the things that came after. Sometimes rock, sometimes hard rock, sometimes even what can only be called a ditty — his sound is right. It's just right. And he tortures that guitar to be as big and fuzzy as electricity will allow. He plays Shenanigans on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 8:30 p.m. 264-5010. — Brandon Reynolds
