“Paint the Music” brings together local musicians and painters for a showcase that features artists painting new work onstage using inspiration from the musicians’ live songs. Created by singer and songwriter Dan Fisk, “Paint the Music” first occurred at Washington’s Ebenezers Coffeehouse in July 2012. The night was a huge success, and is now held as a regular performance series in different cities. The Richmond show will feature music from Fisk, FarAway, Jared Jones and Bryce McCormick, and art from David Bromley, Nikki Galapon, Laura Page and Robby Norton. Each process will be filmed and time-lapsed to match a song, creating a series of music videos. Audience members are encouraged to interact with the musicians and artists to influence the final piece. Paint the Music takes place at Gallery5 on Friday, March 8, at 8 p.m. $10-$12. danfisk.com/paintthemusic.
