Pack A.D. at the Triple

With all the side projects the White Stripes' Jack White has taken part in of late (what's he up to now, 20?), listening to the Pack A.D. you'd think he had found a way to reanimate the corpse of Janis Joplin and start punching out some sneering, blues-tinged garage rock. The Pack A.D., however, is its own kind of monster. Composed of Vancouver natives Becky Black and Maya Miller, this female duo takes a minimalist approach to its songs, relying on raw, distorted riffs and the pounding of backing drums. On the road supporting last year's “Funeral Mixtape,” Pack A.D. plays the Triple on Friday, May 1, at 9 p.m. 359-7777. — Mike Hilleary
