Of Montreal's frontman Kevin Barnes has been known to do several things during a live performance: sing songs in full dominatrix outfits, ride out on stage on a white stallion wearing only metallic underwear, appear half naked (genitalia exposed) while playing gay and straight pornography on a back monitor, and tower above audiences on a ladder appearing in mythic dress, covered in women's makeup. Of course all this oddity perfectly accompanies the unstructured multi-instrumental synth-pop melodies produced by the charming six-piece outfit. Of Montreal will play the National with openers Gang Gang Dance on Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. $15-$18. 612-1900.
