Made up of former members of Drive Like Jehu, Edsel, Hot Snakes and Shortstack, Brooklyn rockers Obits fall under the category of being veteran newbies. Led by guitarists and vocalists Rick Froberg and Sohrab Habibion, the quartet's skuzzy punk-rock garage songs immediately caught the attention of label Sub Pop when bootlegs of their first show were posted on the Internet in 2008. Readying for “Moody, Standard, and Poor” for release on March 29, the follow-up to their full-length debut, “I Blame You,” the Obits will perform at Strange Matter on Tuesday, March 22, at 10 p.m. $10.
