No More Innsbrook After Hours?

UPDATE: According to the Innsbrook Foundation, the concert series will continue and the 2013 schedule will be announced soon.

Original story:
Innsbrook After Hours announced on its Facebook page Monday afternoon that it is possibly ending the popular summer concert series.

James River Entertainment, the organizers of the series, are planning similar concert series in Chester and Crewe.

From Innsbrook After Hours' Facebook page:
"After a 10 year run producing the Innsbrook After Hours concert series, Brad Wells and Laurin Willis of James River Entertainment (JRE) have decided not to renew their commitment to the annual concert event. “Unfortunately, there were differing visions between the Innsbrook Foundation and ourselves regarding the direction of Innsbrook After Hours.” said Wells. “...We felt it better to part ways with Innsbrook and refocus our efforts to venues where we could continue to provide the concert experience area music fans have come to expect.”

“From our point of view, we are simply changing venues,” added Willis. “As co-owners of the historic National Theater in Richmond, we remain dedicated to promoting hundreds of indoor concerts each year. With the creation of ‘Pocahontas Live’ in Chester and ‘Virginia Crossroads Live’ in Crewe in 2012, our commitment to the central and southside Virginia outdoor music scene remains intact.”

In 2012, JRE partnered with the Virginia Museum of Radio Entertainment to present a variety of great entertainment at “Pocahontas Live” in Pocahontas State Park in Chester. The debut season of Pocahontas Live included Dark Star Orchestra, Foreigner, and The First Annual Hops & Harvest Festival featuring The Yardbirds. In 2013, the Pocahontas Live series will be greatly expanded. The series will kick off on Thursday, May 23, with country superstar JUSTIN MOORE. Tickets are available now at: http://pocahontaslive.com/ Watch for details on other upcoming events soon.

The "Virginia Crossroads Live" concert series at Southside Electric Cooperative’s Hooper Park in Crewe, VA also debuted in 2012, with impressive shows by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, and Darius Rucker. This year promises more top flight music, with rock legends ZZ TOP starring in the series opener on Friday, May 10! For more information, visit: http://virginiacrossroadslive.com/.

“Laurin and I have produced thousands of concerts in the mid-Atlantic these past 20 years, in just about every imaginable setting,” said Wells. “Our plans for 2013 still include producing K95 Countryfest and other great events at venues throughout the Richmond area”.

"We want to thank everybody who has supported our efforts at Innsbrook After Hours," said Willis. "While the venues may have changed, our commitment to bringing world-class music to the Richmond area remains the same."
