Kump, who recently opened her first handbag store, Poesis, in the former Richmond Lamp Co. space at 1st and Main streets, says she hopes the TV exposure will boost sales. The store officially opens Aug. 19.
It's only been a year and a half since Kump, mother of two and a former research scientist, sewed her first creation: a colorful fabric replacement for a tattered diaper bag. These are now produced by a factory and are available in about 100 stores nationwide. Kump then hired a marketer to put the bags in the hands of TV actresses. Lisa Kudrow, Phoebe on "Friends," carried the spotted and striped "Groovy" bag in a recent episode. M.S.S
