New Kids at the Richmond Coliseum

When you trace the musical family tree, you quickly realize that if it weren't for Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jon Knight, Danny Wood, and Joe(y) McIntyre — the late-'80s hormone-addling phenomenon known as New Kids on the Block — acts such as the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync never would have been as big as they had been a decade later. The Jonas Brothers might as well erect a shrine in their honor (or at the very least give them a cut of royalties). The grandfathers of the modern boy band (that just sounds wrong), the New Kids have grown up, coming back together after unsuccessful solo outings for some safe-paycheck nostalgia. Looking to remind you of your real age, the man-boy ensemble brings back the “Right Stuff” to the Richmond Coliseum on Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. — with dance group Jabbawockeez.  For ticket information, call 800-745-3000. — Mike Hilleary
