If the aliens come and ask for a human representative, send them neither politicians nor scientists. Send them Neko: beautiful, talented, Canadian (everybody likes Canadians). She'll slay them with her voice, that hot-blooded thing that's smooth on one side and raw on the other. She'll impress them with her versatility, bringing sexiness to the overwhelming pop might of the New Pornographers, bringing light to the lonely alt-frontier of alt-country. She'll shock them with her productiveness, from the Pornographers "Twin Cinema," released last summer, to her own "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood," released last month. Forget our leaders.
