If you need assistance and you've got friends in Richmond that make music, help is probably already on the way. In recent months, there have been several benefits organized by musicians to aid someone who's hit a rough patch. The giving continues this week, with two notable events Friday, Feb 15. At the Canal Club, eight jazz and funk bands will raise funds for the Music Resource Center. The bill for Benefest: Back to the Real includes Upper East Side Big Band, No BS Brass Band, Rex Richardson, The Sweet Collision featuring Tara Foster, Aquabatics, Think?, The Big Payback and The Modern Groove Syndicate (pictured). Tickets are $10. 643-2582. At Gallery5, The Gaskets and Richmond Afrobeat Movement perform at a benefit show for Kellie Brown with performances from B.O.C.A. Crew and Sweet Tease Burlesque. The show starts at 7 p.m. $10. 644-0005.
