More Summer Event Picks For Local Beer Fanciers

Get Your Beer On

On Wednesday, July 27, Cask Café has invited chefs Mike Braune and Adam Hall to get up extra early in the morning and smoke a whole pig. The two will serve all that pork every which way, along with a few of Ardent Craft Ales’ more unusual beers. Grab a seat in the parking lot and get ready — the pig will be done at 4 p.m.

You can bring your dog to Blue Bee Cider’s Dog Days of Summer on Saturday, July 30, from noon-7. It’s the cidery’s third anniversary celebration, and you might find another dog to take home at the pet-rescue adoption booths, while grabbing a bite and listening to live music from Manakins on Franklin.

Reserve a seat on Richmond’s Beer Industry Bus Tour, with host Lee Graves, beer expert extraordinaire, and the Valentine, on Saturday, Aug. 6, from 1-4 p.m. Graves will take you across the city, checking out both historic and current beer-related sites. Tickets are $20-$25.

August is Virginia Craft Beer Month, and Isley Brewing Co. has organized the Brewers Roundtable: a Panel Discussion on the Rise of Virginia Craft Beer, on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. Panelists include Style beer columnist Annie Tobey, Mike Isley, Josh Stamps and Aaron Lile of Isley, Rusty Beaver Brewery’s Rick Ivey, Huguenot Hops’ Devon Kistler and Trevor Dickerson, representing the Scott’s Addition Boulevard Association.

The second Wahoo Cup Craft Brewers Invitational takes place Sept. 17 from noon-6 at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery. Breweries from Charlottesville and Richmond will go up against each other to see who will reign supreme and take home the coveted cup. There will be plenty of food, beer and live music, and a portion of sales at the event will go to Children of Fallen Patriots, a national charity providing scholarships to the families of soldiers killed in the line of duty.

CORRECTION: This article incorrectly listed the Wahoo Cup Craft Brewers Invitational's date as Sept. 7. It is Sept. 17 and has been corrected.
