Mexico Restaurant closes its doors in Hopewell; Ted Cathey joins Palani Drive; Save Our Shelters hosts Bacchus and Beast this Thursday 


Hopewell's loss is Chester's gain. The , a locally owned chain, recently closed the doors of its Hopewell branch. Plans are in the works to move that portion of the operation to Chester, according to management at the Horsepen Road location. Ted Cathey, a former chef at Belle B, Indian Fields and Shackelford's, has recently signed up with , a West End restaurant specializing in wraps and other tortilla-enclosed foods. The restaurant also recently added a quesadilla menu, with the idea that the Mexican-food staple could be expanded to include other regional flavors like Greek, Polynesian and Italian. 401 Libbie Ave. 285-3200. Raising glasses to raise awareness, Save Our Shelters (SOS), an all-volunteer non-profit for the humane treatment of impounded animals, hosts Bacchus and Beast this Thursday. The wine tasting celebrates the Richmond arrival of this year's first Beaujolais Nouveau. The event also includes hors d'oeuvres by David's White House Restaurant, dessert by the Capital Club, music and an auction, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the James Center Atrium. 1051 E.
