Led by frontwoman Emily Haines, Toronto's Metric successfully mixes elements of new wave electronics, dance rock and stadium-blasting synth hooks into some glossy, sonic pop. Almost foreboding in its territorial mood, the band's songs still find ways to glimmer in their self-imposed darkness. Recently scoring audience-expanding slots on soundtracks for both “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” Metric is touring behind its latest full-length, “Fantasies.” Taking a quick stop from opening for Muse, Metric will headline the National on Monday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. $20-$23.
