While probably not the most flattering way to get the attention of a mass audience, singer and songwriter Megan Slankard garnered unintended notice of her music when she was picked for an episode of TLC's "What Not to Wear" in 2004. Certainly overcoming her fashion faux pas, the San Francisco-based artist since has grown a fan base around her acoustically driven pop songs, drawing from the influence of Ani DeFranco and Lisa Loeb. Touring behind her latest album, "A Toke of the Wreckage," Slankard is engaged in a special round of intimate house concerts across the country. Performing in the Fort Lee area on Friday, at 7 p.m. To attend, RSVP to jenwoodhouse@gmail.com.
