Massey Coverage Honored

Style Weekly Contributing Editor Peter Galuszka has won the 2010 American Independent Writing Prize in Reported Nonfiction for “Massey's Dark Side,” a cover story published May 13, 2009. The story explored environmental and mine -safety issues related to the Richmond-based coal company, which owned a mine in West Virginia where a blast killed 29 miners on April 5, 2010, the worst such disaster in the United States in 40 years. The prize is sponsored by American Independent Writers, which gave the award to Galuszka at a ceremony June 12 in Washington,
