Martin's Billboard Ad Adds to Outdoor Clutter

“Civil disobedience” (“Geico Gecko Tags Richmond,” Street Talk, Feb. 3)? For years Style Weekly has railed against architectural deterioration, chastising everyone from home owners to government and, more recently, corporate entities. Now, strangely, it feels the need to publish an article praising its friends at Lamar Outdoor Advertising and the Martin Agency for a hideous stacked billboard that completely obscures a beautiful historic house on Grace Street. Perhaps more appropriate terms to describe the whole affair would be “snow job” or “checkbook journalism.” Ed Slipek Jr., your expertise is needed in the Street Talk section immediately!
