Since their inception in the 1920s, the Harlem Globetrotters have played before 124 million fans, traveled to 118 countries, battled evil robots on "Gilligan's Island," stood accused of "Tomming" in the civil rights era, made two movies and allegedly won 8,829 games in a row -- before losing in 1995. The history of roundball's clown princes is as colorful as their striped shorts and continues with their latest world tour, dubbed "Magic as Ever." The Globetrotters play the Generals on Easter Sunday, March 23, at the Richmond Coliseum at 3 p.m. Tickets are $17-$91. 780-4970.

A member of the Globetrotter's long-suffering opponents,The Washington Generals speaks out.
