Lynyrd Skynyrd at Innsbrook Pavilion

Despite being responsible for the occasional drunk idiot concertgoer yelling "Free Bird" for no apparent reason, Jacksonville, Fla.'s Lynyrd Skynyrd always will be regarded as popular music's definitive Southern rock band. Mixing swaggering blues, rock and country with a hard-as-nails redneck image, the group became notorious for its triple-guitar jamming sessions and responsible for such longstanding tunes as "Sweet Home Alabama," "That Smell" and of course, "Free Bird." Though disbanding after a tragic plane crash resulted in the death of frontman Ronnie Van Zant, the band has regrouped with Ronnie's brother Johnny tackling vocal duties to become a regular draw for live concerts. Playing the olds hits, Lynyrd Skynyrd is scheduled to perform at Innsbrook Pavilion at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. $22-$100. 423-1775.
