Full Name: Luther Thomas Harris Jr.

Age: 53

Family: divorced, no children

Profession: Restaurant management, taking time off to care for sick parents

Where do you live? Glen Allen, no subdivision

Where did you grow up? Born and raised in Glen Allen

Why are you running as an independent?
The main reason is most of the time I do vote Republican, but I don't want to be associated with the other Republicans that are running in this area.

Why aren't you running as a Democrat or Republican? See above.

What are your signature policies and campaign issues?
The two biggest ones is they adopted a comp. plan to include 45 acres into commercial growth, and the county supervisor voted against the will of the people. Also, managing the amount that real estate taxes go up, no more commercial growth in Glen Allen. They want to make two more Innsbrooks out here, and Glen Allen doesn't need that.

Which political party do you more closely identify with? Republican on national level, but not local level.

How do you differ most from them?
A lot of times people associate Republicans with big business, but the only way you can get a good representative government is to let the voice of the people be heard. On a national level, you need to listen to the country as a whole, but on the local level, we need to be the defender of the people.

What changes would bring you into the Democratic or Republican fold?
I'm not really sure there's anything. The Republican Party has the image of big business, but the local level is for the people.

How did you arrive at your political convictions?
Well, I lived up in DC for a while when I was in the Air Force. I met a lot of people up there and by being in the military, I met people from a lot of different areas. I saw how a lot of people acted through college, the Air Force and business. I listened to what people had to say and went from there.

Are you running to win, or running to bring attention to certain issues? I'm running to win it.

Who is your political hero? I'm still pretty much of a Reagan fan because he did a lot to change the outlook of the country.

Is it wrong to steal office supplies? Yes sir.

What kind of car do you drive? I drive a '96 Buick Regal. I've always liked Mustangs - I've had more of them than everything else.
