Ludo at the Canal Club

Island Records is known for nurturing a variety of eccentric artists (just look at Brandon Flowers of the Killers), but the St. Louis-based Ludo really pushes the envelope. Whether it's frontman Andrew Volpe wearing a full tuxedo with a bow tie and strutting around the stage with his guitar strapped on his shoulders, or singing such dark rock lyrics as “Fill my soul with vomit / Then ask me for a piece of gum / Bitter and dumb / You're my sugarplum,” Ludo brings the heavy and weird. The band is touring in support of its major-label debut “You're Awful, I Love You” at the Canal Club on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m. $12-$14. 643-2582. — Alexander Chang
