When it comes to Latin alternative music, the Guadalajara-based duo Los Master Plus brings the heat and handlebar ’staches. El Comanche and Larry Mon take pop songs by the likes of Kings of Leon and No Doubt and make them infinitely more interesting by remaking them into norteño cumbia-tronica ballad bangers. Yes, that’s as fun as it sounds. The YouTube video for the duo’s take on the former’s “Sexo En Fuego” has more than 1.6 million views for a reason. They have the humor, the image and the music that, according to their Facebook page, “makes the tightest girls dance and the strictest nuns sing.” This one should be really fun — Hornitos or no — and better yet, it’s free. Los Master Plus brings the “Rico Suave” to Balliceaux on Saturday, May 17. Doors open at 10:30 p.m.
