Lights Resolve at the Canal Club

New York-based trio Lights Resolve was once a quartet called Last Week — that is, until the group's lead singer left his post to pursue a solo career. When the band couldn't find a vocalist who matched its soaring progressive rock, guitarist and keyboardist Matt Reich decided to take the lead slot himself, spending weeks practicing and taking voice lessons. With two self-released EP's under its belt prompting the kind of accolades any unsigned act would be proud of, the band brings stadium-sized choruses and melodic effects to the Canal Club on Thursday Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. $10. 643-2582. — Mike Hilleary
