Influenced by bands such as the Lemonheads, Superchunk and Jawbreaker, the members of Lemuria sound as though they've been ripped straight from the soundtrack of a “My So-Called Life” episode. Taking its name from the hypothetical lost continent that once was believed to have sunk somewhere in the Indian Ocean, the Buffalo, N.Y., trio delivers the kind of '90s garage tunes that make good on the ups and downs of post-adolescent, lovesick romanticism. The band sings lines such as, “you prefer to kiss me in the morning when you have morning breath” over power-chord pop hooks. Keeping things concise, catchy and uncomplicated, the band is scheduled to play songs off its debut record, “Get Better” at Gallery5 on Monday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. $5.
