Leader of the New School

More than two decades later, the Maryland-based bandleader is still at it, filling East Coast roadhouses with a rough and rowdy brand of guitar-driven barroom blooze designed to get folks out on the dance floor. With song titles such as "Bad MuhFuh," "Bodacious," "Fired Up!" and "Bad Man Down" on the set list, it is safe to say this is upbeat stuff. Larsen and his trio come to town to crank up the volume during the first Art After Hours at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Thursday (Jan. 16) 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance in the museum lobby, or at the door. — ames
