Re: “Richmonders Bring Back Tales From the Pipeline Protests at Standing Rock

Actually Packfan,
The oil is intended to be shipped out of this country, all the while leaking and contaminating water sources not only for the Sioux but everyone else downstream. But Big Oil doesn't care about leaks or spills because they actually make money from them.
Check out this video from a whistleblower (refused to settle in court) who has been documenting hundreds of cases that just get covered up - literally with earth, grass or snow. If this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TThkWlQsbc… and the ripple effect to the environment and surrounding communities including tumors, seizures, and kidney failure to name a few doesn't unsettle you, nothing will.
Plus have you not yet recognized that this isn't just about oil and raping the environment? This is total racism, injustice, human rights violations, along with desecration of sacred territory and a blatant disregard to land rights. That is their land, and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon 6,000 strong and growing everyday.

PackFan,
We took all of our own food, water, and brought extra water and propane for the camp.
It is impossible to be there at this point with below freezing temperatures and turn it into a "hippie festival". There are no drugs or alcohol and it is so cold you really only have time to continue moving by helping in some manner (winterizing, cooking, building, hauling, going to the front line, etc.) or warming by a fire which is where meetings and prayer also take place.
The people who are there with the wrong intentions do not last long. Here is a link to share that came from the orientation which goes over everything one should know, what to expect, and how to prepare before they go: http://www.standingrocksolidaritynetwork.o….

Please help bring warmth for the first Nation Tribes and Allies! For every 10 wood stoves we raise funds for, the company will give us 5 for free. I am personally driving them to the site to be sure they make it in. Please consider a donation: crowdrise.com/wood-stoves-for-standing-roc… and thank you!
