Kyra Gilchrist, 11, is a budding fashionista who loves to shop. In addition to her love for putting an outfit together, Kyra enjoys expressing herself through art.

Her artwork has been showcased at the VCU Metro Art Exhibit, Richmond Public Schools' Kaleidoscope Art Exhibit, Carytown Art Walk, VCU Student Teachers' Art Exhibit, and the City Hall Art Exhibit.

Most recently, her poster entry for a contest was selected by the Flying Squirrels Baseball team to be enlarged to a 4' x 9' poster that will hang in the stadium.

In addition to her art classes at Ginter Park Elementary, Kyra also attends Pine Camp. At Ginter Park, she is an honor roll student and a safety patrol member.

Kyra also has a flare for robotics competitions which she has participated in with Maggie Walker Governor School. Kyra utilized used parts, old car wheels, and legos to build her robot which received 4th place at the Richmond Competition in November this past year.

In addition to expressing herself creatively, Kyra is also a member of the Capital One Boys and Girls Club and is a frequent visitor of the Richmond SPCA.

Kyra's love for visual arts is simplistic and can help anyone understand why it should be appreciated: “Once you think of something, you can just draw it out,” explained Kyra.
