Justin Jones and the Driving Rain at SinAc

Justin Jones is probably one of only a handful of people who can say they have two jobs at the same location. Working as a bartender at Washington's 9:30 Club, Jones often can be found onstage when he's not serving alcohol. Supported for the past several years by his band the Driving Rain, Jones has made a successful career in the capital with his rooted Americana and country tunes. With a soulful, heartache-ridden croon that's as plaintive as it is weary, Jones and his peddle-steeled ensemble find a healthy cross between the solo work of Jakob Dylan and Ryan Adams' Cardinals. Having recently put the finishing touches on the group's tentatively titled third album, “Heart of Stone,” Justin Jones and the Driving Rain are scheduled to perform a free show at SinAc on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 9 p.m. 649-7767. — Mike Hilleary
