Junior League Band at Legend Brewing Company

Here's a banjo player, Lissy Rosemont, who studies bio-physics at an adult level, and yet who keeps company with Missy Elliott and the Pussycat Dolls, playing on the Dolls' single “Whatcha Think About That.” That's the kind of girl you want leading your old-time band. And so she does. Rosemont is the voice and the twango of the Junior League Band, the sort of rambling back-porch-roots sound that is its own tiny little holler symphony. The dobro, drums and bass all seem to swerve all over this five piece party, but Rosemont's sweet vocals keep them all in line. As long as it's appropriate, anyway. The Junior League Band plays Legend Brewing Co. on Friday, Feb. 13, 8-11 p.m. Free. — Brandon Reynolds
