While Zac Braff is more widely known for helping launch the career of the Shins by having an adorable Natalie Portman argue that “they'll change your life” in his film “Garden State,” the indie-music-loving actor and director has also lent a helping hand to Joshua Radin, placing one of the sentimental songwriter's songs on an episode of “Scrubs.” With fans of the show wanting more, Radin has since been enjoying a healthy musical career, recently releasing his sophomore album, “Simple Times,” late last year. Performing with Dar Williams, he plays the National on Monday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. $20. 612-1900. — Mike Hilleary
