Jewish Martinis

Combine a jigger of 1900s American jazz with six wandering European Yiddish troubadours, shake in some ragtime, sizzle for 100 years and serve up the klezmer piping hot. Both sacred and irreverent, the Shirim Klezmer Orchestra combines traditional Jewish dances and laments with fast-paced klezmerized renditions of classics, such as Brahms and the theme to "Psycho." Join the Klezmer Party Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Modlin Center. Tickets are $15-$30. Call 289-8980 or visit www.shirim.com.
