Jessica Lea Mayfield at the Canal Club

The deep, brooding voice of Jessica Lea Mayfield singing heavy lyrics over moody acoustic guitars makes this 19-year-old seem wise beyond her years. Mayfield's debut album, “With Blasphemy So Heartfelt,” packs a therapeutic songwriting approach that tackles God and heartbreak. It was produced during the course of two years by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, who discovered the young songstress at the tender age of 15. Now Mayfield is scheduled to grace the legendary Bonnaroo music festival later this summer. Making a stop in Richmond beforehand, the folk-rock gem brings her intimate coffee shop style to the Canal Club with Among the Oak and Ash on Saturday, June 6, at 8 p.m. $12-$14. 643-2582. — Veronica Garabelli
