David S.: I understand your point. Something else these folks want you to consider, however, is that this isn't a true test of the market. Why? As you note, this is government-controlled. In a free market, a private business might step in, for example, seeing a niche to fill and making it easier for smaller-demand, specialty items to be available more easily to consumers, like the barmen and chefs mentioned in the story.

Tim: We follow AP Style in that councilmen may refer to both men and women when it is a mixed group. When we only speak of a woman or women, we use councilwoman.
