Electrical costs be damned, Christmas brings out some of the best nighttime landscape designs, land being the operative word in most cases. For all others, providing some much needed Griswold luminosity to an otherwise neglected surface of the river, the James River Advisory Council presents its annual James River Parade of Lights. Showcasing the decorative displays of numerous boaters, the yearly parade of aquatic lights has shoreline entertainment and viewing sites at Libby Hill Park, Osborne Park and Boat Landing, and Dutch Gap Boat Landing on Dec. 11 at 4:30 p.m. For information call 748-1567 or visit http://jrac-va.org
