Jackass Flats at Capital Ale House

Aside from a few select tunes, when you listen to Jackass Flats you'd think the quintet of bluegrass junkies were constantly running behind schedule. As if Alice's white rabbit were armed with a rambling-man banjo and swillin', pickin' guitar, this Richmond-native ensemble is made up of genuine blitz-pickers and fiddlers, racing harmony-infused vocals to some unseen hillbilly destination. Whether playing their own twangy originals or putting their own moonshine-stirring sonics on recognizable rock songs, the boys of Jackass Flats rightfully earn their award-winning accolades. Touring in support of their second album, “Greetings From Jackass Flats,” these bluegrass veterans perform at Capital Ale House on Friday, Aug. 28, at 10 p.m. $7. 780-2537. — Mike Hilleary
