I am delighted to see the new column that has surfaced in Style Weekly written by Jack Lauterback (“Punch Drunk,” Food & Drink, July 22). This publication has exceeded my expectations and I am very excited that it has embraced the enthusiasm that is Richmond's younger generation. It is difficult, in the fallen economy today, for a young writer to break into an established journal such as this one. I am hoping that Jack will have the opportunity in this column to spread his journalistic wings and expand into other aspects of the community, such as bar reviews, movies, neighborhood involvement and other focuses that will allow his sense of humor and writing style to encompass all facets of Richmond's culture. Perhaps in time, we can see the phallic symbols in all of our city's greatest accomplishments and public figures. Thanks for giving a young writer a chance. Jen Woodruff Richmond
Richmond should take the time to look a little deeper when borrowing from other cities. Claims made by proponents of new ballparks usually are overstated.
