It's Halftime for Chrisette Michele

After Virginia Union University and Virginia State University have run and jumped their way to halftime at the Freedom Classic '08, Chrisette Michele takes over the court. The young singer projects a mature vibe on her debut CD, "I Am," which is slowly gaining the attention it deserves. Her voice is a bit of an acquired taste, but once you get it, you'll want more. Perhaps her slow rise will create a career that's more like a slow burn than a hot flash. Michele's performance at the Richmond Coliseum is preceded by a drum line competition at 4 p.m., a peewee version of the big game and Fortune singing the national anthem at 7 p.m. $20-$25. 644-8515.
