It's a Swap Thing

What could be better than putting on a puppet show, building a desert survival kit or constructing a giant camera? Getting someone else to do it. VCU sculpture student Macon Reed's (pictured) Swap Meet Project encourages participants to do just that. Everyone sends in a project idea — anything from drawing a picture to performing in public — and, in return, receives an idea from somebody else. Participants follow through with their assigned ideas, all the while breaking through comfort zones and developing new techniques. The final projects of swappers in Richmond are on display at The Camel through the end of the month. 363-7104. S
