Since trimming its lineup to three members, Cut the Architect's Hand sounds heavier than ever. It recorded its latest metal creations at TreccaTrack Studios with Kevin Willoughby (You Guys Are Girls), who recorded the band's other two full-lengths. Hear the new stuff live in May when CTAH plays a benefit show for the Richmond Derby Demons.

Although the sound is forever changing, the name is here to stay. First the band was Chalkline Beauty, then Ares Caress, then The Red Hymnal, then just The Hymnal, and now it's found its way back to its foundation, becoming Chalkline Beauty once again. If you thought it shredded under those other names, check out the new EP "Turncoat Shotgun."

The lineup for Summerfest '07 is set. At press time, scheduled to play the rock festival were Saint Diablo, Fail Safe, Souls Harbor, Kabura, Silk Attraction, Force of Habit, Kabura, Sol Tribe, Fallen Under, Trust in the Fall, Memory Fade, Four Stories, Culdera and Sin Sity. The event is Saturday, August 4, in Ruther Glen. More info is available at www.myspace.com/vasummerfest/.

The dudes in Single Spies appreciate all the kind words from their friends and fans after ending their band's run. Now it's on to the poppier Push Button Reaction, just one of Matt Neagle and Billy D's newest projects. We can only hope they'll call up Paul Picillio from Landmines soon to resurrect the dance-punk sensation Sex on Sunday. — Compiled by Mike Rutz of "Activate" on WRIR 97.3 and Jay Smack of "Studio B" on WRXL 102.1.
