After taking a listen to their new tracks, it's obvious Florida transplants City of Ships are ready to crush the East Coast with their progressive metal. Two songs will go on a split LP with Souvenir's Young America, to be released in March on Perpetual Motion Machine. Their month-long tour begins February 19th at Gallery5. Souvenir's, touring behind their highly acclaimed "An Ocean Without Water," will join them for that show, as well as for most of the March dates.
Do people even celebrate Valentine's Day anymore? Well, Pushbutton Reaction, Hot Lava, and Barstool Heroes will be digging its grave as they sing cover songs about broken hearts, evil exes, and drinking the pain away during Black Valentine's, Feb. 14th at Cous Cous.
No one can say sweaty punks Channel 43 aren't hard-working. After a 5-year buildup, they'll unload their sophomore release, "Cold Day in Purgatory." They'll preview the new songs at Wonderland Friday, Feb. 15, also featuring the first performance of Kid is Qual (Rockbot, Alabama Thunderpussy). -- Compiled by Mike Rutz of "Activate" on 97.3 and Jay Smack of "Studio B" on 102.1.
